Who I am

I'm Grant Davies, and I run this site as GSD Works. That makes me the data controller for any personal information that reaches me through it. If you have a question about any of this, email me at grant@gsdworks.co.uk.

What I collect

If you email me, I'll have whatever you send: your name, your email address, your message and anything you attach. You don't have to share anything with me, but I can't reply without an email address.

When you visit the site, my hosting provider, Vercel, keeps a basic log of each request, such as your IP address, your browser, the page you viewed and the time. It needs this to run the site and keep it secure. I don't use it to identify anyone.

I also count visits with Plausible Analytics, so I can see how the site is found and used: the pages viewed, the site or app that sent you here, your browser and type of device, your approximate location (country, region and city) and which links and buttons you click. Plausible doesn't use cookies and is designed not to identify individual visitors.

Why I use it

I use what you send to reply to you, and to talk about and carry out any work we agree on. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch or, if you're asking about working together, taking the steps you've asked for before we agree a contract.

Vercel's logs rest on my legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure, and Plausible's visit counts on my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used so I can improve it.

How long I keep it

I keep emails for as long as they're useful for your enquiry or our work together, then delete them. The exception is anything the law asks me to keep for longer, such as records for tax. Vercel keeps its logs for a short time under its own settings. Plausible keeps its visit statistics for as long as I use the service.

Who I share it with

I don't sell your information. The only people who handle it are the ones I use to run things: Google, which provides my email, Vercel, which hosts this site, Plausible, which counts visits and keeps its data in the EU, and my accountant, for my tax records. Google and Vercel may store data outside the UK, including in the United States, and both rely on safeguards recognised in UK law for those transfers, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

This site doesn't use cookies or tracking pixels. Visits are counted with Plausible, which works without cookies. The fonts are hosted here too, so loading a page doesn't contact a font service. If you follow the links to GitHub or LinkedIn, their own privacy policies apply.

If you'd rather not be counted, use the link below. It saves a small setting in this browser that tells Plausible to ignore your visits, and you can switch it back at any time.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how I use it. If we work together, you can also ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere. I don't make any automated decisions about you.

If something isn't right, email me first at grant@gsdworks.co.uk and I'll sort it within a month. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you read all of that, you're exactly the kind of person I like working with.
